Chapter 10 - The New Heir

The morning sun finally broke through the heavy storm clouds outside, casting a warm, cinematic light through the large study windows, illuminating the dark cedar wood.

Damen stood up, towering over the room once more. He wasn't the fallen, poisoned king anymore. He was the undisputed master of his empire, his authority completely absolute and unquestioned.

Ellie stood up as well, brushing off her floral dress. She didn't look at the expensive artwork or the grand bookcases. She looked at Atlas.

"Can I take him for a walk?" Ellie asked innocently.

Damen offered a rare, genuinely warm smile. He looked at the giant red-brown mastiff, which was already wagging its heavy tail, completely devoted to the six-year-old girl.

"He's your dog now, Ellie," Damen said softly. "He'll go wherever you want."

Ellie giggled, grabbing the dog's heavy collar and walking him proudly out of the luxury study. Mara stood up, offering Damen a look of eternal, profound gratitude before following her daughter into their brilliant new future.

Damen stood alone in the study, his empire secure, knowing that true loyalty didn't come from blood or money—it came from the fearless heart of a child.

If you were Damen, would you have banished your treacherous brother overseas, or handed him over to the rival cartel he was working for?
