Chapter 6 - The Boss Rises

The guard’s finger tightened on the trigger.
Before the hammer could drop, Damen’s eyes snapped open. They weren't clouded with poison. They were pitch black, burning with an apocalyptic, murderous rage.
With terrifying, explosive speed, the mafia boss lunged upward from the floor. He grabbed the barrel of the guard's pistol, violently twisting the weapon upward. The gun fired harmlessly into the cedar wood ceiling. Damen drove his fist directly into the guard's throat, crushing his windpipe and dropping him instantly to the floor.
Julian’s victorious smirk vanished, replaced by sheer, suffocating panic. "Shoot him! Shoot him!"
But Damen didn't need a weapon. He let out a sharp, single whistle.
Atlas didn't hesitate. The 180-pound red-brown mastiff launched itself off the rug with demonic speed, completely ignoring Ellie. The massive beast slammed directly into the remaining three guards, its jaws snapping with bone-crushing force, tearing their weapons away and pinning them to the floor in a flurry of violence.
Julian scrambled backward, terrified, desperately reaching for the heavy brass door handle to escape.
He didn't make it.
