Chapter 5 - The Confrontation

Dante didn't look at the explosive box on the marble table. He slowly stood up to his full, towering height.
As he rose, his posture shifted flawlessly from a gentle uncle into the ruthless, terrifying mob boss who ruled the underworld. His imposing frame radiated pure, unfiltered menace.
The heavy, agonizing silence in the ballroom was absolutely suffocating. Two hundred guests held their breath, completely unaware that a bomb was sitting just feet away from them, but fully aware that someone was about to die.
Dante turned his head slowly. He locked a deadly, unblinking gaze directly onto his right-hand man across the room.
Marcus was already backing away in absolute panic. His tailored suit suddenly felt like a straightjacket. He looked at the heavy mahogany doors at the back of the ballroom, desperately wanting to run.
"Dante... I swear I didn't do it," Marcus stammers, his voice cracking with pure, humiliating terror. The sweat was visibly dripping down his temple. "The kid is lying! She has an active imagination! You know how children are!"
Dante didn't raise his voice. He didn't draw a weapon or cause a massive, chaotic panic. The cinematic realism of his absolute control was far more terrifying than any shouting match.
He simply took a slow, deliberate step forward.
