Chapter 7 - The Desperate Move

The high-society guests finally began to realize the absolute danger they were in. The polite murmurs turned into quiet, terrified gasps as they noticed Marcus’s extreme physical panic.
Marcus was shoved into a corner. He was surrounded by two hundred innocent guests, but he felt entirely, utterly alone under Dante’s pitch-black stare. If he opened the box, he would explode. If he refused, Dante would execute him for treason.
Driven by pure, unadulterated desperation, Marcus violently reached inside his tailored jacket.
"I'm sorry, Dante!" Marcus screamed hysterically, pulling a heavy black handgun from his shoulder holster.
The ballroom erupted into chaos. Wealthy socialites shrieked and dove under the elegant dining tables. Politicians scrambled for the exits.
But Marcus never even got the chance to raise the barrel.
With blinding, lethal speed, Dante lunged forward. He didn't even wait for his security detail. Dante’s massive, tattooed hand clamped directly onto Marcus’s wrist, twisting it violently backward with a sickening, audible snap.
Marcus let out a muffled, agonizing gasp as his weapon clattered uselessly onto the marble floor.
Dante slammed his forearm into Marcus's throat, violently pinning the traitor against the golden pillar. The heavy impact rattled the expensive crystal chandeliers above them.

"You brought a bomb into a room filled with my family?" Dante whispered directly into the traitor's ear, completely deaf to the man's pathetic, choking apologies.
👉 Marcus was completely disarmed, leaving Dante to expose the true, humiliating depth of his betrayal to the entire room.
