Chapter 14 - the midnight call
At exactly midnight, the highly encrypted phone on Luca's mahogany desk violently buzzed. The caller identification was completely untraceable. Luca answered, remaining absolutely silent, letting the apex predator within him take complete control of the situation. A distorted, synthesized voice echoed through the speaker, dripping with toxic arrogance. "Daniel was just a low-level pawn, Moretti," the phantom caller mocked. "He stole the money, but I took your brother's life. Now, hand over the woman and the child, or I will burn your entire empire to the ground." Luca’s sharp jaw locked into solid stone. The sheer, suffocating audacity of the threat awakened a bloodthirsty monster that had slept for five beautiful years. "You made a catastrophic, fatal mistake," Luca whispered softly, entirely devoid of any human mercy. "You let me know you exist. I am going to tear this city apart brick by brick until I find you." The line went dead. The bloody, relentless hunt for the mastermind had officially begun.
