Chapter 2 - The Cruel Humiliation
Emily slowly looked up at the towering, intimidating billionaire.
She wasn't an elite, wealthy guest. She was a hardworking waitress hired for the catering staff. But just an hour earlier, Valerie—Dominic’s cruel, high-society fiancée—had intentionally "tripped" and spilled an entire tray of red wine directly onto Emily's uniform.
Valerie despised Emily because the waitress had caught her aggressively pinching Noah’s bruised arm in the hallway when nobody was looking. To humiliate the waitress and ensure she was too embarrassed to speak up, Valerie had forced Emily into the coatroom. She tossed her an abandoned, revealing white silk dress with a scandalous high slit.
"Put it on, or I will have my company buy your sick father's medical debt and destroy your family," Valerie had hissed.
Valerie expected Emily to run out the back door in tears. But instead of running, Emily had walked straight to the dark corner where Valerie had abandoned the disabled teenager.
"My last name is Hayes, sir," Emily replied softly, her voice steady, clear, and completely unbroken by the humiliation.
Dominic froze. The name hit him like a physical blow. But before he could process the impossible reality of who she was, the sharp, aggressive clicking of designer heels echoed across the marble floor.
Valerie, wearing a plunging red designer gown, marched furiously toward them. Her flawless face was twisted in pure, unadulterated venom. She saw Emily holding Noah's hands and completely lost her mind.
