Chapter 9 - The Rightful Hero

The agents dragged the weeping, hysterical woman out of the beautiful ballroom and into the cold night. Her desperate, pathetic cries faded away, ending her reign of psychological cruelty and murder forever.

The elite guests, completely disgusted by the explosive federal crimes they had just witnessed, quietly gathered their belongings and filtered out of the ballroom, leaving the family in profound peace.

The chaotic, frantic energy completely evaporated.

Dominic stood in the center of the massive room. He let out a long, shuddering breath. The heavy, agonizing weight of three years of grief, deception, and guilt was finally lifted. He had protected his son. He had completely destroyed the monster.

He turned around and looked at Emily.

She was still standing near the wheelchair, gently holding Noah’s shoulder. The teenage boy leaned his head against her hand, feeling entirely, profoundly safe for the first time in years.

Dominic bypassed the arrogance of his immense wealth. He walked over to Emily and gently took her trembling hand.

"You saved my son's life three years ago," Dominic whispered, genuine tears of absolute gratitude falling from his dark eyes. "And you saved him again tonight. I owe you my entire world."
