Chapter 9 - The Final Severance

I reached into the pocket of my cardigan and pulled out a folded legal document.
I dropped it directly onto the porch, right in front of his kneeling knees.
Dominic picked it up with shaking hands. It wasn't a demand for child support. It was a fully finalized, court-ordered termination of parental rights, backed by the proxy divorce papers he had arrogantly signed six months ago without reading the fine print.
My attorney had buried a specific clause in the massive stack of documents, stating that Dominic surrendered all rights to any future claims of paternity or custody in exchange for me taking absolutely zero of his financial assets.
Because he was so eager to run back to Vanessa that night, he had signed every page without looking.
"You signed away your rights six months ago, Dominic," I said coldly. "Legally, you are nothing to this child. You are just a stranger knocking on my door."
Dominic stared at the paper, the horrifying, absolute reality of his own arrogance completely destroying him. He had literally signed away his only legitimate heir.
"Emma, you can't do this," Dominic whispered, completely broken. "I'll fight it in court! I have the best lawyers in the country!"

"If you ever send a lawyer to this town," I promised, my voice dropping into a lethal, cinematic whisper, "I will release the medical records proving you faked a disability for three years to defraud your own corporate insurance board. Your entire empire will be investigated by the feds."
👉 Dominic was entirely checkmated, leaving me to execute the most satisfying door-slam of my life.
