Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Eviction

The ruthless patriarch of the family, the man who had just threatened to take his own granddaughter away, was now a broken, humiliated shell. He stared at Chloe, realizing he had almost destroyed his innocent daughter to feed a parasite.

Evelyn watched her parents turn on Chloe, their screams of rage and betrayal echoing off the granite countertops. But Evelyn felt no pity for any of them. They had shown their true colors.

Evelyn calmly picked up the thick legal folder, tore the deed transfer directly in half, and dropped the pieces onto the floor.

"Get out," Evelyn said.

Her voice wasn't loud, but it commanded absolute authority. Her father looked up, tears of regret in his eyes. "Evie... sweetheart... we didn't know."

"You didn't care!" Evelyn fired back, her years of submission finally vanishing. "You were willing to leave me and Nora on the street. You threatened to take my child. Now, get out of my house. All of you."

Chloe tried to grab the USB drive, but Evelyn snatched it first. "I'm keeping this," Evelyn warned coldly. "And if you ever come near my daughter again, this goes straight to the police for wire fraud."

Defeated, ruined, and facing immense debt, her parents and her weeping, exposed sister shuffled out the front door into the cold. Evelyn locked the deadbolt behind them. She turned around and fell to her knees, pulling Nora into a massive, tearful hug, finally safe and secure in the home that belonged entirely to them.

If your family tried to betray you like this, would you ever be able to forgive them?
