Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Eviction

Nola didn't flinch. Her natural micro-expressions projected a chilling, untouchable power.
She looked down at the woman who had tried to throw her out into the freezing snow just hours earlier.
"You aren't my mother," Nola whispered softly, devoid of any human empathy. "You are a parasite. And your lease is officially terminated."
The federal agents didn't wait for another invitation. They marched forward, violently grabbing Elaine by the arms and hauling her to her feet. The sharp, metallic click of heavy steel handcuffs echoed loudly in the grand foyer, entirely stripping the arrogant woman of her wealth and dignity.
"Mom, I beg of you!" Elaine screamed in sheer terror as she was physically dragged out the front doors.
Ruth didn't even blink. She turned away from the door, completely erasing her treacherous daughter from her life.
Elaine was shoved forcefully into the back of the federal vehicle, her humiliated, desperate screams echoing across the snowy estate as she was hauled away to a concrete cell where she would spend the next twenty years.
The orderlies quietly packed up their straightjacket and drove away, realizing how close they had come to participating in a massive felony.
The chaotic, violent energy evaporated from the beautiful home.
Nola closed the heavy mahogany doors, locking the cold out forever. She turned and hugged her brilliant, fearless grandmother tightly.
