Chapter 6 - The Vicious Mother

"You're stealing from her," Nola stated coldly, refusing to back down from the woman holding the heavy brass weapon. "You gaslit your own mother in front of our entire family to make them think she’s losing her mind, just so you could steal her money."
"I am saving this family!" Elaine shrieked hysterically, completely abandoning her polished, high-society facade. She slammed the heavy oak door shut behind her. "I built a lifestyle that you get to enjoy! My company went bankrupt, and that old bat refused to bail me out! She owes me!"
"She doesn't owe you anything," Nola whispered, her brown eyes turning pitch black, devoid of any mercy. "She gave this estate to me. You have absolutely no legal right to be here."
Elaine laughed. It was a cold, demonic sound that echoed off the office walls.
"You think a piece of paper matters?" Elaine sneered, stepping closer. "Tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM, a private medical transport is arriving. I paid a highly corrupt psychiatrist to sign a competency evaluation. Ruth is being permanently committed to a locked state psychiatric facility. Once she's declared legally incompetent, I become her conservator. I will shred that deed, sell this estate by Friday, and you will get absolutely nothing."
Elaine lunged forward, violently snatching the documents out of Nola’s hands.
