Chapter 10 - The New CEO

Six months later, the summer sun beamed brightly through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the luxury high-rise apartment.

Lauren stood by the glass, looking out over the city. She wasn't wearing a stained sweatshirt anymore. She wore a sharp, tailored white blazer and elegant trousers. Her hair was styled perfectly. She looked vibrant, powerful, and completely alive.

Behind her, Noah and Lily were giggling happily on a plush playmat, crawling over soft toys under the watchful eye of a professional, full-time nanny.

Lauren checked her glowing smartphone.

The quarterly earnings report for her tech company had just come in. Since she had officially taken over as CEO, ousted Cole, and restructured the board, the company's profits had skyrocketed by forty percent.

Cole’s life had gone in the exact opposite direction.

Stripped of his stolen equity and drowning in legal fees from the divorce and fraud charges, he was currently working as a mid-level sales rep for a struggling paper company. He lived in a tiny, cramped studio apartment, his arrogance permanently crushed by the reality of his own actions.

The heavy front door opened, and Eleanor walked in, carrying two massive bags of toys for her grandchildren.

"How is the CEO doing today?" Eleanor smiled warmly, kissing Lauren on the cheek.

Lauren looked at her mother, then down at her two healthy, smiling babies playing on the floor.

"I figured it out," Lauren smiled back, her eyes shining with pure joy.

She had lost a cruel, arrogant husband, but she had gained the entire world. And she knew, with absolute certainty, that she and her children would never be left in the cold again.

Do you think Cole deserved to lose his entire company, or should Lauren have given him a second chance for the sake of the kids?
