Chapter 5 - The Titanium Wife

The bright morning sunlight caught the heavy gold wedding ring on Ms. Sterling's left hand.

With absolute, cinematic grace, she reached over with her right hand and slowly slid the gold band off her finger. She didn't throw it at Arthur. She didn't cry.

She gently placed the expensive ring onto a completely dry section of the pristine white marble countertop. The soft, metallic click echoed loudly in the tense kitchen.

She lifted her dark eyes and looked directly at the arrogant matriarch sitting at the table.

"No," Ms. Sterling said evenly, her voice completely devoid of any fear or submission. "They don't."

Arthur’s confident, terrifying expression instantly faltered. He frowned, stepping slightly closer to his wife.

"What are you talking about?" Arthur demanded, his voice losing its booming authority.

Ms. Sterling held her cell phone down at her side, her thumb resting casually over the screen.

"The cameras don't belong to you, Eleanor," Ms. Sterling explained clinically, her voice a cold, lethal blade cutting through the room. "And they don't belong to your son. Because this entire estate doesn't belong to you."
