Arthur stopped breathing. His tailored navy suit suddenly felt like a suffocating straightjacket.

"When the bank finalized the foreclosure on this estate two years ago, an anonymous shell company stepped in and bought the debt, allowing your family to continue living here rent-free," Ms. Sterling said, watching the absolute, crushing realization dawn on her abusers' faces. "I am the CEO of that shell company."

Eleanor let out a high-pitched, horrified gasp, clutching the edge of the breakfast table.

"I bought this house," Ms. Sterling whispered, staring dead into her husband's eyes. "I paid for the cars in the driveway. I quietly funded your failing business every single month so you could pretend you were still a billionaire CEO."

Arthur’s knees visibly buckled. He wasn't a powerful man demanding obedience. He was a pathetic, broke parasite living entirely off the charity of the woman he had just slapped.
