Chapter 2 - The Hotel Confrontation

The suffocating tension on the wet city street was absolutely deafening.

Vanessa, the mistress in the red dress, looked down at the injured woman in the wheelchair with a mixture of intense annoyance and arrogant confusion. She didn't let go of Grant's tailored sleeve.

"Grant, who is this?" Vanessa demanded, her voice dripping with toxic, high-society entitlement.

Grant’s eyes darted frantically between his mistress and his severely injured wife. He threw his hands up in a defensive, panicked gesture, desperate to maintain the massive web of lies he had been spinning for months.

"I... I can explain everything," Grant stammered pathetically, taking a hesitant step toward the wheelchair. "Natalie, you aren't supposed to be out of the hospital! The pain medication is making you hallucinate. Let me take you home."

He was trying to gaslight her right on the street. He was treating her like a crazy, delusional patient in front of his mistress.

A tight close-up captured Natalie’s face. She didn't burst into hysterical tears. She didn't scream. The profound, agonizing heartbreak in her eyes instantly calcified into absolute, terrifying disgust. She looked at the man she had loved for five years, finally seeing the cowardly monster hiding beneath his expensive dark suit.

"Don't bother," Natalie whispered coldly, her voice devoid of any human mercy. "We're done."

👉 Grant watched her driver load her wheelchair into a waiting van, completely unaware that his wife possessed a deadly secret.
