Chapter 8 - The Devastating Evidence

"She's lying!" Grant shrieked wildly, completely abandoning his calm, sophisticated persona. He was hyperventilating, pointing a trembling finger at his wife. "The doctors said she has brain swelling! She doesn't know what she's saying!"

Natalie didn't argue with him. She didn't scream.

With her one good hand, she connected her encrypted tablet to the boardroom's massive presentation screen. She tapped a single button.

The entire glass-walled room went completely dark. The massive 80-inch screen illuminated with crystal-clear, high-definition security footage.

The board members watched in absolute, stunned silence as the black-and-white video played. They saw Grant, clear as day, wearing black gloves and sliding underneath Natalie’s luxury SUV with a pair of heavy industrial wire cutters. The audio even picked up the sharp, metallic snap of the brake lines being completely severed.

The absolute, crushing magnitude of the betrayal hit the room with the force of a freight train.

"As you can see," Natalie stated smoothly, her voice completely devoid of human mercy as the footage looped behind her. "My husband didn't just cheat on me with the woman sitting in my chair. He meticulously premeditated a fatal car crash to steal my company and my life insurance."

Grant physically collapsed backward into the wall, his chest heaving as he stared at the giant screen. There was no excuse. There was no lie big enough to cover the undeniable, apocalyptic proof playing on a loop.
