Chapter 7 - The Wife Returns

The cinematic realism of the terrifying tension paralyzed the entire boardroom.
Natalie rolled her heavy medical wheelchair directly into the room. The white bandage was still wrapped around her head, and her arm was still in the white sling. But she didn't look crazy. She didn't look unstable. She radiated the crushing, undeniable, and absolute authority of an apex predator.
"I have a massive objection," Natalie stated clinically, her voice echoing perfectly across the dead-silent room.
Grant’s jaw literally unhinged. The gold pen slipped from his fingers, clattering loudly onto the mahogany table. All the color violently drained from his face.
"Natalie!" Grant gasped, physically staggering backward as sheer, unadulterated panic took over. He immediately turned to the security guards standing by the door. "Get her out of here! She’s having a severe psychotic episode! She escaped from the hospital!"
"Don't touch me," Natalie commanded, glaring at the guards with such terrifying intensity that the massive men immediately froze in place.
Vanessa’s arrogant smirk completely vanished. She shrank back in her executive chair, her scarlet blazer suddenly feeling like a suffocating cage as the board members stared at her in confusion.
"I am perfectly lucid," Natalie announced, rolling her wheelchair right up to the edge of the mahogany table. "I am not brain-damaged. I am not incompetent. I am simply recovering from an attempted murder."
