Chapter 6 - The Fall Guy

"And if you think Madison is going to get away," Claire added, taking a slow step forward, "you really underestimate how thorough my forensic accountants are."

Ethan sniffled, looking up at his wife in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"I read your private, encrypted emails, Ethan," Claire revealed, her micro-expressions showing pure, unadulterated disgust. "I know exactly why you chose her. You didn't love Madison. You were using her personal bank accounts to launder the initial stolen funds before moving them offshore."

Ethan’s eyes widened in sheer panic. He realized Claire knew every single dirty detail of his master plan.

"As soon as the federal authorities started investigating the missing loan money," Claire continued, projecting her voice so the running mistress could hear her, "you were going to frame Madison for the entire massive corporate fraud. You set her up to be your disposable fall guy."

Madison, who was halfway to the terminal, stopped dead in her tracks.

She slowly turned around, staring at Ethan with a look of absolute, demonic hatred.

"You were going to frame me?!" Madison shrieked, her voice echoing violently across the tarmac. "You were going to send me to federal prison?!"

"It was just a backup plan!" Ethan shrieked back, completely losing his mind.

"You are a monster!" Madison screamed, charging back toward Ethan with her manicured hands raised like claws, intending to physically attack him.
