Chapter 8 - The Mistress's Arrest

As the agents threw the weeping, hysterical Ethan into the back of a federal vehicle, another agent stepped directly into Madison’s path.

Madison tried to adjust her plunging red silk gown, forcing a desperate, terrified smile.

"Officers, thank God you are here!" Madison lied frantically, pointing at Ethan's car. "That man is a monster! He tricked me! I had absolutely no idea he was stealing money! I am a victim!"

The female federal agent didn't flinch. She grabbed Madison’s wrist with a grip like iron.

"Madison Sterling," the agent stated coldly. "You are under arrest as a co-conspirator in federal wire fraud and money laundering."

"No! Get your hands off me!" Madison shrieked like a feral animal, violently resisting. "I didn't do anything wrong! She just said he was framing me! I am innocent!"

"We have copies of your bank statements showing you willingly accepted two million dollars in laundered funds," the agent replied, slapping heavy steel cuffs on her wrists. "Tell it to the judge."

Madison wept pathetically, her flawless blonde hair becoming a messy, frantic tangle as they dragged her away. She looked back at Claire with pure, unadulterated venom.

"You ruined my life!" Madison screamed.

"You ruined your own life when you decided to be a parasite," Claire replied smoothly, entirely unbothered by the woman's screaming.

The federal SUVs sped away, their sirens blaring, taking the two treacherous criminals to a maximum-security holding facility.
