Chapter 6 - The Emergency Override

The heavy, suffocating silence of the patio was about to be violently shattered.
With agonizing, excruciating effort, Sloane managed to slide her index finger across the cracked glass of her smartphone. She couldn't move her legs, and her spine was burning with a fiery, apocalyptic pain, but her right hand still functioned perfectly.
She didn't just open the security footage. She triggered the estate's emergency lockdown protocol, directly linking the high-definition video of Delphine aggressively shoving her off the balcony to the local police department and her private legal team.
"What are you doing down there?" Una snapped, noticing Sloane's subtle hand movement. She marched back over in her navy blue lace gown, aggressively preparing to kick the phone away. "I told you to stop moving!"
But before Una's designer heel could even touch the phone, the heavy wrought-iron gates at the front of the estate swung open with a massive, echoing crash.
The sound of multiple sirens pierced the warm afternoon air, violently tearing through the elegant, high-society atmosphere of the rehearsal dinner. The wealthy guests inside the mansion immediately began to murmur in panic, rushing toward the tall glass windows to see what was happening.
Garrison frowned, his classic black tuxedo suddenly feeling incredibly tight. "Did you call an ambulance?" he barked at Una, his face flushing red with anger. "I told you to put her in the car! You're ruining the aesthetic!"
"I didn't call anyone!" Una shrieked defensively, clutching her diamond earrings.
