Chapter 1 - The Balcony Betrayal

The grand American luxury estate was bathed in brilliant, blinding daylight. An elegant American flag waved gently in the warm afternoon breeze, casting shifting shadows over the upper stone balcony. Below, the sprawling patio featured pristine white marble floors, classic stone balustrades, and lavish, wildly expensive floral arrangements prepared for the high-society rehearsal dinner.
Sloane, a thirty-four-year-old woman with long, beautiful wavy brown hair, stood near the edge of the upper balcony. She wore a stunning cream-colored silk evening gown. But strapped tightly over her torso was a visible, rigid grey medical back brace—a painful reminder of a severe car accident she had endured just three months prior. She was still recovering, every movement requiring careful, agonizing calculation.
She thought she was alone, simply trying to catch her breath away from the chaotic, snobby wedding guests gathering downstairs.
She was wrong.
Footsteps approached silently from behind. Delphine, her twenty-something sister and the bride-to-be, stepped dangerously close to Sloane’s spine. Delphine looked absolutely flawless in a sparkly champagne evening gown, holding her smartphone up to record the entire interaction.
A tight, cinematic close-up captured Delphine’s face. She didn't look like a nervous bride; her expression twisted into a malicious, deeply calculated smirk.
"Let's get some views," Delphine whispered maliciously into the camera.

Without a single microsecond of hesitation, Delphine aggressively dropped her shoulder and drove it directly, violently into Sloane's rigid medical back brace. The sheer, unexpected force of the brutal impact shoved Sloane forward. Her hands desperately clawed at the air, missing the stone railing by mere inches as her balance completely shattered.
👉 Sloane plummeted over the edge, completely unaware of the horrific apathy waiting for her at the bottom.
