Chapter 9 - The Audit

"You're a parasite, Claire," I said, my voice echoing off the crystal chandeliers. "You spent three years taking the credit while I quietly paid for your mistakes. But you got greedy."
I signaled to Daniel. My attorney pulled a second stack of papers from his briefcase—thick, detailed financial ledgers highlighted in bright red ink.
"When you applied for the six-hundred-thousand-dollar loan, the bank required a deep forensic audit of your event company," Daniel explained, his voice entirely devoid of mercy. "And as the actual owner of the property, Willow Gate Holdings was legally required to review those books."
All the color violently drained from Claire’s perfectly contoured face. She took a staggering step backward.
"We found the embezzled funds, Claire," I stated smoothly. "Over the past fourteen months, you have been secretly siphoning client deposits directly into your personal accounts to buy designer dresses and diamonds, while sending the actual vendor invoices to my accounting office to pay out of my pocket."
My father looked at Claire in absolute horror. "Claire... is this true? Did you steal from the clients?"
Claire couldn't speak. She was hyperventilating, realizing that her entire high-society reputation was being completely, systematically vaporized in front of the city's most elite investors.

"As of eight o'clock tonight," I announced, turning to address the stunned crowd, "Willow Gate Holdings has officially terminated its management contract with Claire's event company due to gross financial misconduct."
👉 My family was utterly destroyed, leaving me to issue the final, devastating command of the evening.
