Ryan asked the question everyone was thinking.
“If she lied about meeting Michael, how do we know she had nothing to do with his death?”
Grandpa refused to jump from deception to murder.
He asked for the medical record to be reviewed properly.
Dad’s death investigation was revisited with the new timeline.
The result was painful but clear.
Dad had a previously undiagnosed cardiac electrical condition.
Stress could increase risk.
The confrontation with Madeline may have contributed physiologically.
But there was no evidence she poisoned him.
No injury suggesting assault.
No evidence anyone followed him into the garage.
Security footage from the hotel showed Dad walking alone toward his vehicle.
He stopped near a pillar.
Leaned against it.
Then collapsed.
The medical conclusion remained natural cardiac death.
Madeline had not killed him.
But she had lied about the final hour of his life because exposing that hour would expose her own misconduct.
That distinction mattered to me.
For days, part of me wanted the worst possible explanation simply because anger likes clean villains.
Reality gave us something messier.
Dad died naturally.
But he died carrying the burden of a confrontation no one else knew had happened.
