Chapter 8 - Sienna’s Cruelty Came From Jealousy And Fear

Sienna later admitted she knew about the donor arrangement from the beginning.
At first Adrian presented it as temporary secrecy.
He claimed Mara was ashamed he had fertility problems.
He told Sienna:
“She agreed, but she doesn’t want anyone knowing the donor is Julian.”
Sienna believed that for less than a month.
Then she saw Mara at a charity dinner talking excitedly about how the baby had Adrian’s profile on ultrasound.
Sienna realized Mara did not know.
She confronted Adrian.
He admitted it.
According to Sienna, she should have told Mara immediately.
She didn’t.
Because by then she was sleeping with Adrian.
And because Adrian convinced her that revealing the truth would expose Julian too.
So silence became complicity.
Complicity became resentment.
Every time Mara talked happily about “our baby,” Sienna felt trapped inside a secret she had chosen to protect.
Rather than blaming herself or Adrian—
she began blaming Mara.
That was how guilt curdled into cruelty.
By the driveway confrontation, Sienna wasn’t only the mistress pushing out the wife.
She was a woman terrified that Mara’s hospital paperwork would expose a deception linking her entire family to the pregnancy.
It explained her panic.
It did not excuse throwing a baby bag at a heavily pregnant woman.
It did not excuse helping Adrian drag Mara from a vehicle.
