Chapter 13 - Callum Did Not Lose Everything Overnight

The legal process was slow.

The Christmas assault was straightforward because witnesses and video existed.

The destruction of the camera was documented too.

The incidents involving Rosalie required more careful review.

Messages.

Photographs.

Medical records.

Statements.

Audio.

Context.

There was no instant prison sentence.

No dramatic judge delivering justice before New Year’s.

Callum faced real consequences, but they developed over months.

The family stopped inviting him to events.

Rosalie moved her finances into accounts she controlled.

Her attorney handled the separation.

Protective conditions governed contact while proceedings continued.

Callum’s professional life did not magically disappear either.

That bothered some relatives.

They wanted immediate ruin.

Rosalie did not.

“I don’t want revenge,” she told me.

“What do you want?”

“To stop being afraid of what mood he’s in.”

That was a better goal.

Smaller.

More realistic.

Much more important.
