Chapter 9 - Callum Tried to Turn Christmas Into Mutual Violence

His attorney’s first explanation was predictable.
Family argument.
Emotions high.
Marjorie ordered him out.
Callum approached.
Physical confrontation followed.
Marjorie kicked him through a Christmas tree.
From a distance, that version made both of us sound equally reckless.
Then the full recording was reviewed.
Callum entered aggressively.
Announced he was moving into a house whose owner had not invited him.
I told him to leave.
He approached me.
He punched first.
I kicked him immediately afterward while he was still advancing.
Then I stopped.
I did not chase him beneath the tree.
Did not hit him again.
Then he deliberately destroyed the recording device.
The distinction mattered.
I had defended myself.
I was also angry.
Both could be true.
But the video showed exactly who initiated the physical attack.
Callum’s attempt to flatten everything into “we both lost control” failed.
Events have sequence.
May you like
Sequence matters.
