Chapter 18 - THE WOMAN AT THE CLINIC

Dana’s firm opened a clinic for elder financial abuse.

Mom volunteered twice a month.

Reception.

Coffee.

Not legal advice.

She had a gift for recognizing embarrassed people.

One afternoon, an eighty-year-old man whispered that his daughter controlled his bank card.

He said:

“She means well.”

Mom answered:

“Maybe. But do you know where your money goes?”

He shook his head.

She handed him an intake form.

No speech.

No judgment.

Information first.

That became Mom’s philosophy.

People deserve facts before labels.

She never told him his daughter was abusive.

Lawyers would investigate.

She simply gave him a way to ask questions safely.

That was more useful.
