Chapter 4 - The Husband's Betrayal

Jude slowly shifted his intense, dark gaze from the little girl on his lap to the weeping, pathetic man bleeding on his expensive rug.
An extreme, cinematic close-up captured Jude’s face. The terrifying monster didn't look angry. He looked entirely, profoundly disgusted.
Jude gently lifted Brinley off his lap, carefully setting the three-year-old down safely on the floor next to his chair. He didn't pick up the handgun from the marble desk. He simply stood up, towering over the room with lethal, unstoppable authority.
"You stole two million dollars from my organization, Marcus," Jude stated, his voice a low, raspy rumble that made the crystal glasses on the bar rattle.
"I was going to pay it back!" Marcus shrieked like a feral coward. "Take the woman! She's pretty! You can sell her! Just let me walk!"
Elena collapsed against the wall, weeping in pure despair. She had suffered years of emotional and physical abuse behind closed doors with Marcus, but she never imagined he would actually try to sell his own daughter to the mafia.
Jude slowly walked around the marble desk. He looked at Elena, taking in her bruised wrist and the terrified way she shielded herself.
The ruthless boss didn't bypass the arrogance of the husband. He walked directly up to Marcus and grabbed him by the throat, hauling him violently up from the floor with one hand.
