Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Protection

The loyal enforcers moved with explosive speed. They grabbed the weeping, hysterical Dominic by his expensive suit, violently dragging him out the back doors of the ballroom. His pathetic screams for mercy faded into the dark night, ending his reign of toxic ambition, cruelty, and abuse forever. He would face the ultimate, brutal justice of the criminal underworld.
The chaos completely evaporated from the mansion.
Vincent collapsed heavily into a chair, his breathing ragged, but a faint, victorious smile touching his lips. Marcus walked over, carrying little Adeline securely in his arms.
Adeline wasn't crying. She still held her green stuffed alligator. She looked at her uncle, tilting her head innocently.
"Uncle Vin awake?" Adeline asked softly.
"I'm awake, sweetie," Vincent whispered, tears of absolute gratitude welling in his dark, hardened eyes. He gently reached out and touched her small cheek. "Because of you."
Clara hugged her daughter tightly, finally free from her abusive marriage and entirely protected by the most powerful man in the city.
In the months that followed, Vincent made a full, miraculous recovery. He completely purged his syndicate of anyone who had ever shown loyalty to Dominic, rebuilding his empire stronger, heavily fortified, and fiercely loyal.

A year later, Vincent sat in the exact same opulent office. But he wasn't doing criminal business. He was sitting on the floor, wearing his dark suit, happily playing tea party with a three-year-old girl and a green stuffed alligator. The nightmare was completely over, proving that true power isn't found in a loaded gun—it is found in the innocent courage of a child who refuses to let you die.
Do you think handing Dominic over to the "cleaners" was enough justice, or did the cruel father deserve a harsher punishment for leaving his toddler behind?
