Chapter 9 - The King Returns

"He isn't lying."

The deep, raspy, and incredibly weak voice echoed from the back of the ballroom, instantly freezing every single person in the room.

The capos slowly parted like the red sea.

Standing in the doorway, heavily supported by two massive trauma surgeons and clutching his thickly bandaged chest, was Vincent. The feared mafia boss was deathly pale, sweating profusely, and barely able to stand. But his dark eyes burned with a sheer, demonic, unadulterated wrath that made the entire room bow their heads in respect.

He was the absolute apex predator, and he had returned from the dead.

Dominic’s jaw dropped. The blood completely drained from his face, leaving him looking like a terrified ghost. His legs physically gave out, and he crashed to his knees on the marble floor.

"Vincent... please..." Dominic whimpered pathetically, crawling backward as the boss slowly, painfully limped toward him. "It was an accident! I didn't mean to!"

"You left my two-year-old niece in a room with a bleeding corpse," Vincent whispered lethally, every word costing him immense physical pain.

Clara sprinted across the room, throwing her arms around her brother's waist to help support his weight, weeping tears of profound joy.

Vincent looked down at the pathetic traitor kneeling in front of him.
