Chapter 7 - The Security Chief's Entrance

Dominic raised a glass of expensive bourbon, fully expecting the dangerous men in the room to raise theirs and swear their blood oaths to him. He smiled a cruel, victorious smirk. He had actually pulled it off. He was the undisputed king of the city.
But before a single capo could raise their glass, the heavy, towering wooden doors of the grand ballroom violently burst open.
The entire room went breathlessly, dead silent.
Marcus, the massive head of security, slowly walked into the room. He wasn't wearing his suit jacket anymore. His white shirt was entirely covered in dark crimson blood, his hands stained with the undeniable evidence of the violence upstairs.
He walked with the terrifying, heavy steps of an executioner.
Dominic’s smug smile faltered for a fraction of a second. He hadn't expected Marcus to come downstairs so soon. He assumed the security chief would be trapped upstairs dealing with the "assassins."
"Marcus," Dominic said loudly, forcing a tone of authoritative grief. "Did you find the rival cartel hitmen who murdered our boss?"
Marcus stopped in the direct center of the ballroom. He looked around at the confused capos, and then locked his dark, lethal eyes entirely onto Dominic.
