Chapter 3 - The Traitor's Name

The cinematic tension in the dark office was absolutely suffocating.
Marcus kept one heavy hand pressed firmly against his boss’s bleeding chest, while his other hand slowly reached out to unfold the blood-stained piece of paper. He fully expected it to be a manifest, a bank account number, or a rival cartel's calling card.
Instead, it was a single name, hastily scribbled in Vincent’s own blood before he had passed out.
Dominic.
Marcus stared at the paper. The initial shock violently evaporated, instantly replaced by a cold, terrifying, and demonic realization. His blood turned to absolute ice.
Dominic wasn't a rival gang leader. He was Vincent’s ambitious, arrogant underboss. He was also Vincent’s brother-in-law—the husband of Vincent’s sister, Clara, and the father of little Adeline.
The pieces of the horrific puzzle instantly snapped together in Marcus’s tactical mind. Dominic had ambushed Vincent in his own secure sanctuary. He had shot his boss point-blank, intending to orchestrate a hostile takeover of the entire billion-dollar criminal empire. And because he was a toxic, arrogant monster, Dominic had left his own two-year-old daughter in the room, fully assuming a toddler was too stupid to call for help before Vincent bled to death.
Marcus looked down at Adeline, who was still holding her stuffed alligator.
