Chapter 1 - The Blood in the Bathtub

The heavy mahogany doors of the grand luxury American penthouse burst open, slamming violently against the hallway walls.
Marcus sprinted into the sprawling master bathroom, his breathing ragged and frantic. He was a handsome, muscular man in his forties, his dark hair messy, wearing a tailored tan vest over an unbuttoned white dress shirt that exposed his heavily tattooed arms. He was one of the most powerful, arrogant billionaires in New York, a man who believed he controlled everything and everyone around him.
But as he skidded to a halt on the polished marble floor, his entire world completely and violently shattered.
"Natalie?!" Marcus gasped, his voice breathless and choked with absolute, paralyzing panic.
He stared at the center of the massive room. The luxury freestanding bathtub was overflowing. The water spilling over the porcelain edges and pooling onto the pristine white marble floor wasn't clear. It was entirely, horrifyingly red.
The bathroom looked like a war zone. One of the expensive marble wall panels was completely smashed, shards of stone scattered across the floor like broken glass.
Marcus stumbled forward, his polished shoes splashing in the bloody water. For the past six months, he had completely ignored Natalie. He had spent his nights in luxury hotels with his young mistress, deliberately cutting off Natalie’s credit cards to force her to stay trapped in this penthouse. Yesterday, Natalie had called him twenty-two times, leaving voicemails begging for his help, sobbing that she was in excruciating pain. He had silenced his phone.
Now, he desperately grabbed the edges of the tub, expecting to find the lifeless body of the wife he had mercilessly neglected.
