Chapter 3 - The Blinded Security

"Sir?"
A hesitant, nervous voice echoed from the bathroom doorway.
Marcus slowly turned his head, his eyes red and frantic. Standing in the entrance was his Security Chief, a sharp man in his forties wearing a professional black suit. The Chief surveyed the blood-soaked room, the shattered wall, and his broken boss with deep apprehension.
"Where is she?" Marcus demanded, his voice a low, lethal rumble. "Pull the security footage. Track her license plate. Lock down every airport in the state! My wife is bleeding out somewhere!"
The Security Chief took a slow, cautious step into the bathroom, keeping a safe distance from the volatile billionaire.
"Sir, the cameras stopped recording at exactly 2:00 AM," the Chief said hesitantly, his eyes darting to the wiped cell phone on the counter. "She disabled them. The servers were wiped completely clean. The IT team says it was done from the inside."
Marcus’s jaw locked. The muscles in his neck strained against his white collar.
"That's impossible," Marcus sneered, his lethal, controlling instincts kicking in. "The security mainframe requires biometric authorization. Only I have that authority."
The Security Chief swallowed hard, lowering his eyes respectfully.
"You gave her equal access, sir," the Chief replied quietly. "Three years ago. When you first got married. You signed the biometric override protocols making her a primary admin. She used your own system to blind us."

Marcus stopped breathing. He had completely forgotten. In the beginning, when he actually loved her, he had given her the keys to his entire kingdom. And over the last three years, as he slowly transformed into a cruel, cheating monster, Natalie had quietly, methodically learned how every single lock worked.
