Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Checkmate

Natalie didn't flinch at the sight of the gun. She just smiled, a cold, victorious smirk.

"I told you, Marcus. I bought my freedom with your secrets," Natalie whispered. "Did you really think I wouldn't anticipate you using the syndicate to find me?"

Suddenly, the blinding, intensely bright lights of three tactical helicopters illuminated the ocean outside the balcony.

The heavy glass doors of the villa shattered inward. Dozens of heavily armed Interpol agents and federal tactical units swarmed into the living room, laser sights immediately locking onto Marcus’s chest.

"Drop the weapon!" the lead federal agent roared.

Marcus dropped the gun, raising his hands in sheer, unadulterated terror. He looked at Natalie, realizing he had walked directly into her final trap.

"The evidence package I left on the counter was just a copy," Natalie said quietly, standing up from the sofa. "I sent the originals to the FBI the moment my plane took off. They’ve been waiting for you to cross international lines so they could arrest you without your corrupt New York judges interfering."

"Natalie, please!" Marcus screamed as four federal agents tackled him to the floor, violently ripping his arms behind his back to cuff him. "I love you! I'm the father of your child!"

"You are nothing but an inmate," Natalie replied, turning her back on him completely.

Marcus wept hysterically as he was dragged out of the luxury villa, his empire, his wealth, and his freedom permanently destroyed. He would spend the rest of his life in a maximum-security federal prison.

Natalie walked out onto the balcony, feeling the warm tropical breeze against her face. She rubbed her baby bump, smiling brightly at the beautiful ocean. She had defeated a billionaire monster, secured forty million dollars, and won a lifetime of peace for her child.

Do you think Natalie’s brilliant revenge was fully justified, or did stealing forty million dollars make her just as ruthless as her husband?
