Chapter 3 - The Crimson Threat

"What is the meaning of this?!" a shrill, furious voice echoed across the gym.

Walking down the metal stairs was Isabella. She was Mateo’s gorgeous, thirty-something fiancée, wearing a skin-tight crimson designer dress and carrying a five-thousand-dollar handbag. To the outside world, she was the loving future wife of the syndicate boss. Behind closed doors, she was a calculating, venomous snake.

Isabella marched across the blue mat, glaring at Gia with pure, unadulterated disgust.

"Mateo, why is this filthy gym rat anywhere near you?" Isabella demanded, pointing a manicured finger at Gia. "And why are your guards just standing there? I hired her to wipe down the heavy bags, not to put her hands on my fiancé!"

Mateo didn't even look at Isabella. His intense dark eyes remained entirely locked on Gia.

"She knows about my back, Isabella," Mateo said quietly.

Isabella’s flawless face paled for a fraction of a second. Her realistic micro-expressions betrayed a sudden, violent spike of panic. She quickly masked it with a theatrical, condescending laugh.

"Oh, please!" Isabella scoffed. "She's a minimum-wage physical trainer trying to scam you out of money! She probably read your medical files from the office!" Isabella turned to the lead guard. "Throw this trash out into the alley and break her hands so she never works again."

The guard stepped forward, reaching for Gia's arm.

"Touch her, and I'll break your neck," Mateo ordered coldly.

The guard instantly stepped back, lowering his head.

Isabella gasped, her face flushing red with absolute humiliation. "Mateo! You are embarrassing me in front of the staff!"
