Chapter 5 - The Frame-Up

Up in the glass-walled VIP office overlooking the gym, Isabella was hyperventilating.

She paced across the expensive hardwood floor, her crimson dress rustling. She quickly pulled out a burner phone and dialed the corrupt lead guard, Dante, who was stationed outside the warehouse doors.

"Dante," Isabella hissed into the phone, her voice dripping with desperation and malice. "The coach knows. She figured out the formula in the oil."

"I told you the dosage was too slow," Dante growled on the other end. "If the boss finds out we’ve been paralyzing him to stage a coup, he will skin us both alive. What do you want me to do?"

"Kill her," Isabella ordered cold-bloodedly. "But not in the gym. Make it look like an assassination attempt on Mateo. Plant a weapon in her locker. Drag her to the basement and put a bullet in her head. I will tell Mateo she was an assassin sent by the rival cartel."

"Consider it done," Dante replied, hanging up the phone.

Down on the gym floor, Gia was writing down a list of blood tests Mateo needed to run to confirm the toxin.

Suddenly, the heavy doors violently burst open again.

Dante and three armed guards stormed onto the blue mat, their weapons drawn and aimed directly at Gia’s chest.

"Drop the pen!" Dante roared, grabbing Gia roughly by the shoulder and throwing her onto the mat.

Mateo’s eyes flared with rage. "Dante! What the hell are you doing?!"

"She's an assassin, Boss!" Dante yelled, pulling a suppressed pistol equipped with a laser sight out of Gia’s small burgundy gym bag. "We found this in her locker! She was waiting for you to drop your guard!"
