Chapter 1 - The Crushed Flowers

The luxurious ballroom reception was a breathtaking, cinematic display of absolute, untouched wealth. Warm golden lighting poured from massive crystal chandeliers, reflecting off the flawless marble floors and the heavy silver centerpieces. The room was packed with the city’s most elite, powerful guests sipping expensive champagne.

But near the grand entrance, the sophisticated elegance was violently shattered by a sickening display of toxic cruelty.

Victoria, a beautiful bride in her thirties with a flawless brunette updo, stood radiating arrogant rage. She wore a stunning, custom-made red evening gown—having completely ditched her traditional white dress for the reception—and a heavy diamond necklace that cost more than most people made in a lifetime.

Standing directly in front of her was a frail, seventy-something elderly woman. She looked completely out of place, her gray hair tied back, wearing a heavily worn, moth-eaten gray cardigan and a cheap scarf.

Victoria angrily pointed a manicured finger directly toward the massive mahogany exit doors, glaring down at the elderly woman with pure, unfiltered disgust. Between them, stuffed aggressively into a silver champagne ice bucket, was a bouquet of delicate white flowers wrapped in cheap brown paper. Victoria had just snatched them from the old woman’s trembling hands and crushed them into the ice.

"Get this filthy woman out of my reception," Victoria commanded coldly, her voice echoing perfectly across the dead-silent entryway.

👉 Victoria expected the old woman to run away in tears, completely unaware that she had just triggered the destruction of her own wedding.
