Chapter 4 - The Missing Matriarch

"Daniel, my sweet boy," the grandmother wept softly, her frail hands shaking as she reached out toward the towering billionaire.

Daniel didn't care about his expensive tuxedo. He dropped to his knees on the hard marble floor, aggressively pulling the elderly woman into a desperate, fiercely protective embrace. He buried his face in her worn gray cardigan, sobbing with profound, agonizing relief.

To understand the absolute, bone-chilling horror currently paralyzing the bride, one had to look at Daniel’s massive corporate empire.

Daniel had been entirely raised by his grandmother. She was the only family he had ever known. Three years ago, she was diagnosed with early-stage dementia. Daniel had explicitly hired Victoria—who was a highly paid private nurse at the time—to manage his grandmother's exclusive, round-the-clock medical care while he traveled to build his multi-million-dollar company.

But exactly one year ago, while Daniel was in Tokyo closing a massive merger, Victoria called him crying. She claimed his grandmother had wandered out of the luxury estate during a storm and completely disappeared.

Daniel had spent millions on private investigators, completely broken by the loss. During his intense grief, Victoria had manipulated him, played the role of the perfect, comforting partner, and successfully manipulated him into marriage.
