Chapter 4 - The Arrival in Dress Blues

Back in the ballroom, the party was reaching its peak. Chloe was twirling in her elegant white lace wedding dress, ordering the staff around like a cruel dictator.
Suddenly, the massive double doors of the ballroom swung open with a heavy thud.
The live orchestra abruptly stopped playing. The sudden silence was deafening. Every billionaire, socialite, and politician in the room turned their heads toward the entrance.
Stepping onto the marble floor was a man in his thirties with short, perfectly groomed dark hair. He was not a wedding guest. He was wearing a formal US Marine dress blue uniform, his chest heavily decorated with high-ranking medals that caught the warm light of the chandeliers.
Chloe’s arrogant smile returned. She eagerly pushed through the crowd, assuming her deployed husband had sent a high-ranking officer to deliver a romantic wedding gift or read a letter of devotion in front of her jealous friends.
