Chapter 7 - The Mastermind Revealed
"You don't have the authority to demand anything," the Marine replied coldly. "I do not answer to Julian."
"Then who do you answer to?!" Chloe shrieked, her white lace dress tangling around her legs as she threw a humiliating tantrum.
"He answers to me."
The calm, icy voice cut through the chaos from the back of the room. The crowd parted instantly.
Standing in the background, bathed in the warm light of the crystal chandeliers, was Eleanor. The older woman in the light blue sparkly skirt suit looked at the shocked bride with a cold, deeply satisfied expression.
Chloe let out a chaotic, hysterical laugh. "You? You're just a pathetic old widow! You live in my house! Julian will never forgive you for this!"
The Marine stepped directly in front of Chloe, towering over her.
"You will address General Eleanor Vance with respect," the Marine growled softly, the lethal warning in his voice silencing the entire room.
