Chapter 8 - The Boardroom Guillotine

Richard’s arrogant smile instantly vanished into thin air.
Sitting in an oversized leather armchair near the roaring fireplace wasn't just the billionaire. It was Sarah. She was wearing a beautiful new cashmere sweater, looking warm, healthy, and entirely untouchable.
And standing directly behind her, placing a protective hand on her shoulder, was the "homeless old grandpa" from the diner parking lot.
Arthur Vance.
All the color violently drained from Richard’s perfectly contoured face. The expensive crystal glass slipped from his fingers, shattering against the hardwood floor.
"You..." Richard stammered, physically staggering backward as his brain desperately tried to process the apocalyptic reality. "You're Arthur Vance?"
"I am," Arthur stated coldly, his deep voice carrying the undeniable authority of an executioner. "And you are the coward who tortures starving mothers in the snow."
Richard began to hyperventilate. Driven by pure, animalistic desperation, he lunged for his leather briefcase, intending to grab the fraudulent contracts and run for his life.
"Don't move," a rough voice echoed from the corner of the study.
Four armed federal agents stepped out from the shadows of the massive library shelves, their tactical weapons drawn and aimed directly at Richard’s chest.
