Chapter 7 - The Corporate Guillotine

"Captain, what is the meaning of this?" Richard demanded, his voice cracking slightly as he desperately tried to maintain his fake, high-society authority. "Why are we delaying the flight? We are going to lose our runway slot!"
"We aren't losing our slot, sir," Captain Elizabeth stated clinically, her voice completely devoid of the polite customer service tone she had used earlier. "But you are losing your flight."
Richard physically recoiled in his plush leather seat. "Excuse me?!"
"The Chief Operating Officer of this airline just personally contacted my cockpit via secure priority line," Captain Elizabeth announced flawlessly, ensuring every single wealthy passenger in the cabin could hear the absolute destruction of the arrogant executive. "He explicitly ordered me to halt the departure."
Richard’s face turned violently pale. "The COO? Why would Marcus Coleman care about a seat dispute?!"
Zara looked down at the trembling executive. Her expressive hazel eyes were completely devoid of human mercy.
"Because you stole his daughter's seat," Zara whispered softly, her polite voice slicing through his arrogant ego like a razor blade.
The collective gasp from the surrounding first-class passengers was absolutely deafening. Richard physically shrank into the leather upholstery, his immaculate brown pinstripe suit suddenly feeling like a suffocating cage. He had just aggressively harassed, bullied, and insulted the beloved, fiercely protected teenage daughter of the most powerful man in the global aviation industry.
