Chapter 9 - The Ghost Returns

Driven by pure, animalistic panic, Isabella yanked open the top drawer of the mahogany desk and pulled out a silver revolver.
"If I have to kill you myself to get this empire, I will!" Isabella shrieked hysterically, pointing the trembling barrel directly at Dominic’s chest. "I wasted four years wiping your chin and pretending to love a blind cripple! You owe me this city!"
Dominic didn't flinch. He didn't even raise his hands.
"You're right," Dominic said smoothly. "You did run my empire for four years. Which means your signature is on every single illegal ledger, offshore account, and cartel money-laundering contract in this building."
Isabella frowned, confusion breaking through her panic. "What are you talking about?"
The side door of the study opened.
Elena walked into the room, holding little Lily's hand. Elena wasn't hiding in the shadows anymore. She wore one of Isabella’s expensive designer dresses, reclaiming her rightful place as the queen of the estate.
"He means you just took the fall for everything," Elena stated coldly, looking at her treacherous sister.
Isabella gasped, lowering the gun slightly in sheer horror.
"While you were sitting in here waiting for my death," Dominic explained, "Marcus forwarded every single piece of financial evidence containing your forged signatures directly to the FBI, and to the rival cartels you stole from. You are legally entirely responsible for the syndicate's crimes."
