Chapter 8 - The Hidden Camera

Julian’s hands shook violently as he pulled the glowing iPad out of the empty safe.

He tapped the screen. A high-definition, crystal-clear video began playing.

The cinematic tension in the dark study reached an absolute breaking point. The video wasn't a live feed. It was a recorded surveillance clip from the penthouse kitchen, time-stamped exactly twenty-four hours earlier.

On the screen, Julian and Chloe were standing over Eleanor’s fine china teacup.

"Just crush two more of the sedatives," Chloe’s voice echoed sharply from the iPad speakers, her digital face twisted with cruel ambition. "If she's completely disoriented at the airport, the doctors will legally declare her unfit by noon. The fifty million will be ours before she even wakes up in the psych ward."

"I know," Julian’s voice replied on the video, casually stirring the crushed pills into his grandmother's tea. "I can't wait to be done with the old bat."

Julian and Chloe stared at the iPad in absolute, suffocating horror.

Eleanor hadn't just suspected their betrayal. She had installed hidden micro-cameras in her own home. She had known about the poison. She had known about the forged signatures. She had watched them orchestrate her murder, and she had sat in the airport lounge sipping champagne, waiting for them to fully incriminate themselves.

"She knows," Julian choked out, tears of pure, humiliating panic streaming down his face. "She knows everything."
