Chapter 6 - The Golden Boy's Fraud

Victoria swallowed hard, her heart pounding against her ribs as she looked at the cold, murderous fury building in her fiancé's eyes.
"Yes!" Victoria lied flawlessly, puffing out her chest to look confident. "She is a thief, Gabriel! I caught her rummaging through the guest rooms! You know you can't trust these minimum-wage peasants! I was only trying to keep our home safe for our future together!"
Gabriel stopped inches away from her. The height difference was intimidating, his tattooed neck and fierce jawline towering over her.
"You're right, Victoria," Gabriel whispered, a dark, merciless smile touching his lips. "We absolutely have a thief in this house."
Gabriel reached into his black trousers. He didn't pull a gun.
He pulled out the heavy, blood-stained platinum pocket watch. He held it up by its broken chain, letting it dangle in the warm light of the crystal chandeliers, right in front of Victoria’s face.
All the blood violently drained from Victoria’s flawless face. Her skin turned the color of wet chalk. Her mouth fell open in absolute, paralyzing horror. The champagne glass slipped from her manicured fingers, shattering loudly against the marble floor.
"No..." Victoria gasped, her eyes wide with unadulterated terror as she recognized the trophy she had kept hidden under her floorboards for three years.
"My brother's watch," Gabriel stated calmly, his voice vibrating with absolute, unstoppable justice. "The watch that the police said was stolen by the hit-and-run driver who murdered him. I’ve been looking for this for three years, Victoria."
Victoria began to hyperventilate. She stumbled backward, her designer heels slipping on the spilled champagne.
