Chapter 9 - The Ultimate Reward

The grand foyer fell into a profound, heavy, and incredibly peaceful silence. The chaotic, frantic energy completely evaporated from the room.

Gabriel let out a long, shuddering breath. The heavy, agonizing weight of grief that had chained him to the darkness for three years was finally lifted. He had his answers. He had his justice.

He turned around and walked back to the open front doors.

Clara was still kneeling just inside the threshold, wearing Gabriel’s heavy suit jacket, holding Lily tightly. She was trembling, absolutely overwhelmed by the explosive violence and the terrifying reality of her boss's world.

Gabriel ignored his expensive trousers and dropped to one knee right in front of them. The ruthless mafia boss completely melted away, leaving only a profoundly grateful, protective man.

"I am so incredibly sorry for what that monster put you through in my home," Gabriel said softly, genuine remorse filling his dark eyes.

"It's okay, sir," Clara whispered, tears falling down her cheeks. "We just need to go."

"You aren't going anywhere," Gabriel replied gently. He looked at little Lily, who was still wearing her pink Santa hat. "You brought me the greatest Christmas gift I could ever ask for, little one. You gave me the truth."

Gabriel looked back at Clara, his expression filled with absolute, unbreakable resolve.

"You are no longer a maid in this house, Clara," Gabriel declared softly. "I am tripling your salary, clearing any medical debts you have for your daughter, and moving you both into a secure, private suite in the east wing. You and Lily are under my absolute, unconditional protection. Nobody will ever raise a hand to you again."
