Chapter 1 - The Terror in the Corridor

The breathtaking, opulent American mansion in the heart of New York was a fortress disguised as a palace. Glowing crystal chandeliers suspended from the vaulted ceilings cast a brilliant, warm light over highly polished marble floors. Elite bodyguards in sharp suits stood like statues in the background, ensuring absolute security for the estate’s master. The atmosphere was incredibly quiet, the kind of heavy, expensive silence that only billions of dollars could buy.
Damiano Moretti walked down the center of the grand hallway. The tall, handsome man in his thirties was the undisputed king of the city’s underground syndicate. He wore a sharp black suit, a crisp white shirt, and a perfectly tied black tie. A dark stubble lined his sharp jaw, and his expression was one of calm, untouchable authority as he reached for the heavy brass handle of his private office doors.
Just a few feet away, Sophia, a young woman in her twenties, was quietly straightening a floral arrangement. She wore a traditional black and white maid uniform, her brown hair pinned into a neat updo, working hard to remain completely invisible to the terrifying mafia boss.
Suddenly, the heavy silence of the corridor was violently shattered.
Six-year-old Emma, wearing a light pink floral dress, sprinted out of the office. She aggressively tugged on her mother’s black and white sleeve. Her tiny hands were shaking violently as she clutched her brown stuffed bear against her chest.
