Chapter 4 - The Thumb on the Trigger

A tight, cinematic close-up focused entirely on Victoria’s hand.

She slowly raised the small black remote control, her thumb hovering dangerously over the main detonator button. Her hand was shaking slightly, completely driven by pure, cornered desperation.

"Too late, Damiano," Victoria whispered to herself, her cold voice carrying softly down the marble hallway.

She knew it was over. An hour ago, Victoria had realized Damiano’s lead accountant had cracked her encrypted accounts. She knew that by midnight, the terrifying mafia boss would know she had stolen forty million dollars from his empire. In the underworld, that kind of betrayal was punished with a slow, agonizing execution.

Survival instinct had driven her to the extreme. She had purchased military-grade explosives from a rival cartel, sneaking them into Damiano’s private office hidden inside a decorative gift box. The plan was flawless: detonate the office as soon as he opened the door, play the grieving, heartbroken widow, and legally inherit the remaining billions of his estate.

But she hadn't planned on the maid's daughter wandering into the office to retrieve a toy.

Victoria glared down the hall. If she pressed the button now, the blast radius would take out the office doors, Damiano, the maid, and the little girl. To Victoria, the collateral damage was entirely acceptable.

👉 Victoria’s finger twitched toward the button, but the terrified maid was about to throw herself into the line of fire.
