"I can put the money back!" Beverly wailed hysterically, tears of pure, unadulterated terror flooding her eyes as she realized her country club friends were going to see her in handcuffs. "Don't turn in the report! I'll pay for Chloe to get professional extensions! I'm sorry!"
Audrey felt absolutely zero human empathy for the monster crying in her living room.
"This has consequences," Audrey stated flawlessly, looking dead into Beverly's eyes.
She didn't yell. She didn't negotiate. She simply reached out and pressed a single button on the tablet screen, permanently forwarding the fully compiled audit report directly to the FBI and the State Attorney's office.
"It's already sent," Audrey whispered.
Beverly let out a horrific, blood-curdling scream of pure despair.
Suddenly, the blinding flash of red and blue police lights illuminated the living room windows. The wail of federal sirens echoed aggressively down the quiet suburban street. The authorities hadn't waited; they had been parked three blocks away, waiting for Audrey to finalize the digital transfer.
The heavy front door was violently kicked open.
Three heavily armed federal agents marched directly into the living room, completely ignoring the luxurious furniture.
